Psychographic Segmentation

Psychographic Segmentation Involves classifying people according to their values, beliefs, opinions, and interests. There is no one standardised lifestyle segmentation model, instead market research firms, and advertising agencies are constantly devising new categories, which will best help target possible consumers of their clients products. One example of a life style classification model, is that developed by the advertising agency, Young & Rubican, called Cross Cultural Consumer Characterization (4Cs for short). This classification model is presented in the table below The 4Cs Resigned Rigid, strict, authoritarian and chauvinist values, oriented to the past and to Resigned roles. Brand choice stresses safety, familiarity and economy. (Older) Struggler Alienated, Struggler, disorganised - with few resources apart from physical/mechanical skills (e.g. car repair). Heavy consumers of alcohol, junk food and lotteries, also trainers. Brand choice involves impact and sensation. Mainstreamer Domestic, conformist, conventional, sentimental, passive, habitual. Part of the mass, favouring big and well-known value for money 'family' brands. Almost invariably the largest 4Cs group. Aspirer Materialistic and acquisitive, oriented to image, appearance, charisma, persona and fashion. Attractive packaging more important than quality of contents. (Younger, clerical/sales type occupation) Succeeder Strong goal orientation, confidence, work ethic, organisation ... support status quo, stability. Brand choice based on reward, prestige - the very best . Also attracted to 'caring' and protective brands ... stress relief. (Top management) Explorer Energy - autonomy, experience, challenge, new frontiers. Brand choice highlights difference, sensation, adventure, indulgence and instant effect - the first to try new brands. (Younger - student) Reformer Freedom from restriction, personal growth, social awareness, value for time, independent judgement, tolerance of complexity, anti-materialistic but intolerant of bad taste. Curious and enquiring, support growth of new product categories. Select brands for intrinsic quality, favouring natural simplicity, small is beautiful.(Higher Education)

School of Rock Trailer

In School of Rock Jack Black gets kicked out of his band and needs money. He then pretends to be his brother to earn money as a substitute teacher. When he becomes the teacher he tries to turn his students into a rock band. They go to Battle of the Bands and have to perform against Jack Black's old band. I like this film as it quite funny and cheerful but also has good music in it.

The Dark Knight Trailer

The film starts with the Joker robbing a bank. Commissioner Gordon and Harvey Dent are trying to  clean up the city. The Joker tricks the criminals into giving him all of their money and he forces Batman to reveal his identity by killing people until he does. Harvey Dent is caught in an explosion which means half of his face gets burnt of - he has become 'Two Face'. Two Face goes on a rampage and tries to kill Gordon. Two Face ends up being killed but Batman takes the blame as they wanted Harvey Dent to be a symbol to the people of the city. The Joker is arrested after a fight with Batman. I like this film because there is lots of action and suspense.

Guardians of the Galaxy Trailer

In the film 'Starlord' steals an infinity stone without realising what it is. Then when he tries to sell it lots of different people try to steal it. As a result everyone goes to prison but in there they become friends. The new friends break out of prison to sell the infinity stone but it gets stolen by Ronan. Ronan takes the stone to a planet so he can destroy it. The friends name themselves the 'Guardians of the Galaxy' and try to stop Ronan. Eventually they do and everyone lives happily ever after. I like this film because there is lots of action and there are lots of things going on but it also quite funny and different to other superhero movies.

Learn to Fly music video

Learn To Fly Music Video

Learn to Fly is a song from the Foo Fighters and their record label is Capitol Records. The music video was directed by Jesse Peretz and it won the 2000 Grammy Award for Best Short Form Music Video.
 I can't tell who the target audience is but I think the video would appeal to lots of people because the story is good.
The music video is set on a commercial airplane where two mechanics put something strange in the coffee. During the flight most people drink the coffee including the pilot. The coffee then makes everyone who drinks it act very strange. The members of the band, who are on the plane, have to land the plane as they were the only people who didn't drink the coffee. When they land the plane the mechanics are arrested. The story follows what Tzvetan Todorov's theory.
At the start of the video there are midshots and bodyshots to set the scene but later in the music video there are more close ups to show in more detail what is happening. When the video gets less tense there are less close ups.
In the video the members of the band dress up in different costumes to be the different characters.
The video is successful because the video has a great storyline that fits with the song.
